New Homepage Layout Tutorial

Ok folks the new homepage has gone live so here is an up-dated tutorial of the new youtube homepage. I will only be answering comments to questions no covered in this tutorial, questions about the new CHANNEL page layout will have to wait until i do the tutorial for that topic.

Hey, not sure if you are aware or not, i just found out if you goto youtube com/home you can get the original homepage back again.

@DrOrphious79 Do you think its worth it as youtube will be sending out cookies regular as clockwork for this interface, besides this will be the only homepage as from Jan 1st, after that date it's this or nothing

how did you know that jan 1st theyre killing the /home link? or is it just that theyre making all changes permenant?

as for it being worth it, i just bookmark the /home link so i can get the old homepage and even if its just till jan at least my christmas wont be lame due to avoiding youtube.

@DrOrphious79 Everything to do with the old homepage and channels will be killed off, as for the 1st jan, was told that by someone in the know. Think about it logically, would you invest million of dollars in time and designers to abandon it ?

The only thing I really don't like is the fact that I can see what all of my subscriptions are commenting on and my subscribers can see everything I comment on...not much privacy for some people. Thumbs up if you agree, or if you are subscribed to me thumbs this up, I'm curious to see how many people subscribed to me will see this on their homepage.

Uploads, videos liked/favorite should be the main things showing up in the news stream.

We don't mind the new layout .

However, it does have many problem (which have already been discussed).

What we fear (and we suspect many others do as well?), what is the new home page going to do for the smaller channels and people just starting out on YouTube?

Answer: absolutely nothing!

Example: We have another channel (which has less then 100 subscribers). Fact, channels with a smaller audience will never gain subscribers with the new layout.

@DibbersPage thanks, good to know. but i actually saw the /home link more as respect for the users right to use the site as they wish, after spending millions on it they might just want to see if it was well spent or not. but this is google after all.

@DibbersPage I knew it said she closed it. I was waiting to see what goes on the other, but big coincidence if panda isn't the cause. Like I said elsewhere, if I hadn't been watching your tutorials I would've bailed and I've been playing in Panda since I saw you mention it.

I bottled beer tonight and didn't vlog it for the first time since I started vlogging. Coincidence? FB also lost my interest with the latest changes where links don't act like you expect and you have to dig.
