please visit http://www.jimrichter.com for more lessons and info about me.

I worked this up for the blues mandolin social group at the mandolincafe.com.

Though not exact, this lesson and tab is based on the playing of contemporary blues mandolin master, Rich DelGrosso. This former tune of Johnny Young's, Get Your Nose Outta My Bizness!, is the title track to Rich's solo album of the same name. it's a good heavy shuffle in G--what could be better for a blues mandolinist?

Tab is on the tab page of my site.

Please visit http://www.mandolinblues.com to learn more about Rich and to buy his CD and instructional booklets.

  • great stuff.

it was a lot of talking but I enjoyed it. I like to hear how your mind interprets music and then expresses it on mandolin. we're all jealous of your talent.

  • Hi JIm!! Im a member of the Mandolin Cafe :)

I was wondering, Im trying to direct mor of my style to that of "Cheuck Berry" and "Carl Perkins" early elvis type stuff.

Is this blues /rock? 50s rock?

How would you suggest I practice to get into this sound of playing?

    Thanks man

  • Great tips, Jim. I'll be doing my best to learn from it. Can I make a couple of critical observations that are only intended to help you improve your video lessons?

    1. Get a seat that doesn't revolve; it is VERY distracting watching you rotate from side to side for the first few minutes of the clip.

    2. Talk less and play more. More time playing the tune it and breaking it down for guys like me to watch the PLAYING over and over - that way I can learn so much.

    Thanks for a good lesson!
