Do you remember listening to such radio shows as The Shadow, Fibber McGee and Molly, The Lone Ranger, Jack Benny, Fred Allen, Let's Pretend
or any of the the thousands of radio shows that were on the air in the 1930's, 40's and 50's? Then this is a set of audio CD you will want to own or give
as a gift to those who do remember those wonderful days.

1976 was the bi-centenial of the United States. It was also the 50th anniversary of radio. I have been a listener of radio since I was a child and I wanted to do
something special to celebrate these two events. So, in 1976, I produced this 5 hour set of CDs. Actually, they were released on audio cassettes back in
those days. Today they are available on a 5 CD set in a professional jewel case.

There are excerpts of over 150 old time radio shows. These are not short clips, but long selections so you can understand what the program was all about. It
was a project that took almost a year to produce. You'll find sample of all the different types of programs. The soap operas, comedies, detective shows, children's
shows, news broadcast and even the famous War of the Worlds.

Nothing like this has ever been produced before. You may find products that contain just program openings or 10 second clips of shows. This collection
uses long selections of not just the beginning, but in some cases, clips from different parts of a program so that you can understand what the show was all about.

There are even excerpts of interviews with a number of radio actors.

In fact, this production won an award.

  • HI,

I enjoyed listening to Amos and Andy. Do you have any clips from "Let's Pretend"? I can still sing the Cream of Wheat commercial. Do you have the theme from "Grand Central Station"? Those were two of my favorite Saturday programs.

    Thanks,

    Sheila

  • Thank you for your comments. Yes, the set of CDs contains excerpts of the other shows you mentioned. I'll try and post some in a few weeks. The set is also for sale. You can find it on Amazon or my web site.
