Any dog can be a Search and Rescue dog, however a herding dog is the most popular kind for their high energy levels , willingness to make their handler happy, a high play drive and a good nose. Labs are great for their nose's but it is their fitness that usually lets them down which is why they can be used as drug sniffing dogs.
