why are thre white people in africa?
It is true that strength is in unity
Thank-you my love
For being at my side no matter what
Only a distant memory remains
Of my solitude and my fears.
Now I am strong through your support
Your presence makes me radiant
...are some of the words of this beautifull and moving song. The rest can be found in the inset of the CD coverof the CD Bowmboi.

Without question the highest emanation of Islamic culture in sub-Sharan Africa is in the Mali-Senegal-Burkina Faso axis. Yet so total is the integration of Islamic culture -- its finest artistic merits in fact -- into the traditional cultures of those areas we hardly ever think "Islam" when receiving their cultural output. Music is one fine example; the overpowering poetry of delivery in all the genres is Islamic, their blues roots are wholesale African. I'm proud to be from West Africa!
