  • The Authorized King James come from totally different sources than the others, and they mostly come from Alexandria so it makes a big difference when talking to people who believe. Interesting to learn about regardless if you think the Bible is true or not.

  • You don't sound rude to me, just dismissive. I was explaining what i meant by "different interpretations of the bible." I put my explanation together with an example that i thought someone who doesn't think God exists would understand. I guess I failed. I don't think any of my explanations will make sense to you unless you think God exists. i'm sorry. We must have different mindsets. Now i sound dismissive, but i don't think we can make "sense" to each other because we use different premises.

  • ...i'm really not sure what i was expected to understand from that. i'm sorry, i don't mean to sound rude, but that didn't make any sense at all.

i was talking about the bible, as in the book, as in what is written in it. what were you talking about?

  • OK. Here goes: i will explain what i mean with an example:

Let's say "bible" equals the statement "there is a lack of evidence for god."

Then let's say that one person interprets that statement: god doesn't exist.

Further let's say that another person interprets that statement: god exists.

This is what I mean by different interpretations.

  • Certainly. I still want to know what you mean different interpretations of "bible"

  • i didn't mean to end our conversation. i just didn't want to overstay my visit. it is your video comment space.

i will continue if you want.

  • I suppose thats one way to end a conversation

    cya

  • somehow i get the feeling that we aren't really communicating. I don't "see" what you are saying. You don't "see" what I'm saying.

    See you later, aligator.

    Cheers on your major.

  • I'm not sure what you mean by different interpretations of bible...I thought it was a singular physical book. In any case I'm glad you can see what I'm saying about the room for error. I just go one more step and conclude that this room for error is too substantial to trust to any reasonable degree. Its best regarded as a fictional resource for insight, which it is.

Yeah, I hope that film can be my one and only major...and there doesn't have to be a "later" one too. Here's to goin for it!

  • I do have my doubts about the "literal interpretation" thingy (which you alluded to) as well as the "taking things out of context" thingy (which you didn't). Also I question some peoples interpretation of the bible and their miss-use of it. People can be faulty in their thinking and actions.

When we use the word "bible" i think we each in our minds have a different understanding.

Your majoring in film. That's great. I wish i would have done that. I got an Engineering degree. later.
