The only Reason Ms. Witt has a second Olympic Gold is due to block judging. Everyone who truly understands and appreciates skating knows that Elizabeth Manley of Canada should have won that night. Her program was technically superior with a good blend of vibrant & fun artistry.

I still think it is disappointing that Thomas could not have skated like this, to this program, at the 1988 Winter Olympics. I still believe if Thomas had she would have won. Manley then should have won the Silver and Witt the Bronze. But unfortunately Debi just let her guard down going into the first triple-triple at those Olympics and couldn't ever get her rhythm back (I really believe Witt's performance at the Olympics was no where near where Debi's was at the U.S. Nats in '88.)

@ballinagra13 No, Ito should not have won due to the school figures still being in existence. I do agree Manley should have won the Olympic Gold and the World Championships in 1988 if the judging was not so block in nature at that time. The only Olympic Gold Medalist since then that I don't think should have won the Gold was Oksana Baiul in 1994 (I am still one of those that believe Nancy Kerrigan had a much stronger long program in those Olympics.)

@HattieLovesCattie oh come on! Debi was an ultra competitive competitor who would not have entered the competition if she didn't think she was going to win! When she double footed on her first jump (the second triple toe), she even admitted that she had given up and knew that she had lost the gold and that Kati had won! As for Kati sleeping around. do you know Fraulein Witt personally do you? I am guessing not as otherwise you wouldn't come out with such childish remarks!
