I think these snakes are not so dangerous. Just bad publicity due to the 'biggest snake of the world' title. They are not poisonous and not easy to find. Smaller and poisonous snakes can be zillions times more dangerous.
No, there are not snakes walking trhough the streets in Brazil, and I have never seen one alive. I'm just wondering about risks.

just make sure your average build allows you to keep the snake from wrapping around you and that you are able to overcome the snakebite pain and hold its mouth perfecetly still with your GOOD hand and you'll be fine! afterwards the snake will probably call it good and go home for a beer or maybe he'll join you at the bar and you can laugh about it later....
