The Sopranos - Chris & Tony talking at barbecue

One of the most significant scenes in the breakdown of their relationship.
Chris idolized his dead father and wanted to believe in his legend for the first five seasons. Tony tried to tie Christopher to him forever by giving him revenge for his fathers death.
When Chris says his father was just a junkie, he`s really saying Tony`s efforts have failed, their bond is now broken, and he will no longer ``follow Tony into hell``.

Tony Soprano is now Martha Stewart talking about how the juices cook the meat even after you take the meat off the grill? Who gives a fuck. That slob will eat anything.

@Antrizzle2009 Good point.

@jksonny And in that sense, Tony is EXACTLY like his mother, something he resents a great deal.

Less filling, taste like ass.

@Andrewline I agree with you. I think thats exactly what Chris was saying when bringing up Tonys therapy, that Tony has probs of his own, they just arent substance abuse problems. Its kinda funny the way Chris says "still doing that?" and T ignores it. Its ridiculous the way Tony compares not being able to eat eggplant to trying to stay clean from a drug addiction. Tony even says "might put me into a relapse" lol. Tony is clueless as to what Chris was going through.

Tony is a jerk-off to anyone that's able to improve their life. This is similar to his jealousy over Janice's anger management. Tony's frustration, IMO, stems in great part that when others make changes, it threatens his need to control them. Even here, the conversation is all about control, right down to which pieces of meat need to be turned.

OH SNAP!
AAAAND this round goes to Christopher Moltisanti. :D
I kind of saw that as Christopher saying "y'know, I'm being lectured for having a drug problem, but you looked up to my father, who was a drug addict, himself"-bascally, he's calling Tony on his hypocrisy.

@mccarthystuart Yeah I agree. It's also interesting when Chris asks Tony if he's still in therapy, implying that he has problems of his own. Tony looks uncomfortable when Chris asks "still doing that?". I don't recall any other times his guys mentioned his therapy.
