Amateur Radio Field Day 2009 K4NRW River Wireless Club Christianburg, Virginia. The New River Wireless Club operated field day out of the Emergency Communications Trailer owned by the Near SWVA Preparedness Alliance. The Alliance is made up of a group of 14 hospitals in SW Virginia. Amateur radio forms the backup communications support with a group of repeaters linked together covering much of SW Virginia. Mike K4IJ has been the lead person setting up the repeaters and amateur radio network for the Alliance. Training is being given at each hospital for members of the staff to receive their amateur radio license. Operators at the field day 2009 were K4IJ Mike Knight, KB5YY Ted Von Dameck, K4FDS FD Singleton, KJ4HJR Chris Davis, and KJ4NDR Zachary Davis.
