A believer will be saved as long as he or she walks in the light. 1 John 1:7 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgement and fiery indignation which shall devour the adversaries. Heb. 10:26-27
it is a stanard response of the OSAS people to claim that denying OSAS is works salvation. it is nothing of the sort.
It is abding in christ, staying with the PERSON who is Jesus Christ, which saves us, as He continues to cleanse us of sin in the ongoing relationship which is discipleship with Him.
Hebrews 6:4 is absolutely clear. it describes those who partake of the spirit and taste the powers of the kingdom to come. but only those who are born again can be enlightened. so it is possible to be lost once one is converted.. there is security in christ, as we are to abide in him. if we do not we are cut off and burned. this is not purgatory. Trusting a Person, which is our security, is totally different from trusting a doctrinal plank..
We can be cut off if we do not abide in faith. Rom 11:20-22
“Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou Standest By FAITH. Be not high minded, but fear:
For if God spared not the natural branches, TAKE HEED LEAST HE Also SPARE NOT THEE.
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, IF Thou CONTINUE IN His goodness: Otherwise thou ALSO Shalt Be CUT OFF.
This man's argument is very good. I love it. There is a debate in my church right now on this topic. But I do not believe that once you are saved you are always saved.
@howa3984 That makes no sense, since it never says that he lost his salvation. And based off of Romans 8:28-30, you cannot choose to become unforeknown by God. If you are born again, you will be glorified!! 2 Corinthians 1:20-22 agrees with Romans 8 and really puts a huge hole in your argument!!!
@Johnnyboy1990sp How is quoting scripture (Acts 22:16) unscriptural? It is scriptural. It is just un-Johnnyboy. It is un-Luther. It is un-Calvin. But IT IS pro-God.
