This democratic index is from the economist intelligence unit, a (very) british company (yes, commercial company), tied to the right-leaning economist magazine (otherwise of good quality, but very politicaly oriented)
France being stamped as a "flawed democracy" is totally accurate, but the high ranking of Britain, and even worse, the US, is wery questionnable.
I went through the report and it's not explained.

@VincentPhil I think the EU should kick Britain out. And not just from the EU but from every other European organization as well as the Common Market. And that it should be Europe that should fill up the Chunnel and cancel the ferries and flights to Britain. Let's see how that would go for Britain now that they don't have an Empire anymore.

And won't be kicked out because 1) it's against the european values of openness and friendship between nations 2) it's legally impossible (hard to understand coming from medieval common law, sorry)

@VincentPhil This is the problem. We don't WANT to be part of the cult any more. We were lied to, to get us in and we don't like the terms and conditions. I don't know why, but paying billions to be told what to do, just doesn't seem like a great deal.
European values have nothing to do with what the EU wants. I like Europe, I hate the EU. The EU is all about what liars, control merchants and a bizarre mixture of wannabe Communists and Nazis want.

@VincentPhil 2) I hear that a number of Nazis and Communists call common law medieval. It's a bit like saying freedom is out of fashion. That's why I don't listen to the Commies or Nazis (who are actually basically two sides of the same fascist coin.
And yes I have heard of Godwin's law. It's what wannabe Nazi's scream, every time they have been rumbled.
