At its peak in the 12th century, the Angkor kingdom spread across Cambodia, Thailand, Burma, Laos and Vietnam. Angkor is the largest pre-industrial city known to man. So how did Angkor mysteriously disappear?

It was the size of modern LA, a masterpiece of civil engineering. Forests were stripped and rivers removed to make way for temples, palaces and markets. Then, in a development that has long perplexed archaeologists, Angkor suddenly vanished. Now a recent study by the University of Sydney is re-examining Angkor using radar remote-sensing data from NASA. As archaeologist Damien Evans explains, the team's findings give a stark warning to Cambodia's corrupt and greedy rulers, and to modern societies worldwide. 'We are facing similar issues', says Evans, 'The same mistakes are being repeated today'.

@hetismij21 I 'm American living in Thailand and go to Cambodia on Visa runs. I like the Cambodians and think you are correct . The only scam I became victum to was a guy took a crisp $100.00 bill from my sight and changed it for an imperfect one . I could not spend the note in Cambodia . But returned to Thailand and exchanged it with no problem. Never had trouble in Laos but share the belief that poverty is the driving force.

I don't what those are UNESCO, ICJ AND ADB. I don't study political or abbreviate letters. I only learned history a bit and learned different human behavior around world. some I don't like, but I understood it isn't my business to judge them. I know people around will always curropt; however, I don't have to be one of them. here cambodia is communism under viet, if you want to remove it you have to face yourself against viet. there is nothing you against hun, I understand about his occupt.

Ask 14 million Khmer they will tell you they supported Hun Sen especially today Thailand invading Cambodia trying to steal Cambodia property that makes Hun Sen became a Hero when Khmer see Thai PM Ahbishit loser to UNESCO and ICJ. Cambodia is a home of people of Cambodia included Khmer babies and Khmer children and ADB just give more money to Hun Sen so ADB got to be stupid to give more money to a scam Hun Sen.

@DangersMines let ask you me, yourself a political, if your thoughts wanted to remove sen hun? if you want you have to remove vietnam, if you can you will committment a lot of murder mass. a lot of khmers and viet will die; however, you won't stop scams, and scam will come more worse than you have seen. scam will always scamming anywhere, no one can stop it. you and I are not innocent people, but I only can do is to remind myself not to receive anything from people and help them what is needed.
