From gospel music training center - http://www.gospelmusictraining.com
It's Black history month so here's a clip from Jonathan Powell, "The Professor of Phatness" and Gospel Music Training Center Director, playing "Lift Every Voice And Sing"... also known as "The Negro National Hymn," "The Negro National Anthem," "The Black National Anthem," or "The African-American National Anthem"— a song written as a poem by James Weldon Johnson (1871--1938) and set to music by his brother John Rosamond Johnson (1873--1954) in 1900.

  • is there a tutorial for this? if not can one be made? it would be great

  • @greaaaatness Yes, there is. Inside the Gospel Music Training CEnter. See link on the video. Thanks.

  • Now, I KNOW you didn't think of that nice substitution of chords @ 1:08-1:11 at the spur of the moment! hahaha

Hey Mr. Griggs, tell your boy Jonathan that "I hope he doesn't mind that I'm taking his substitution!" (Although, I bet, based on what I've heard him play before, he has so much more up his sleeve.)

  • @dudeguy927 hey there... thanks for kind words about the professor of phatness. Knowing him, he probably did come up with it on the spot! Keep up the great work and take all you want! That's what it's all about. Stay tuned.... HP
