Question: Was the New Testament Church really a "New Testament" Church as we think of it today? In what ways was their situation different from ours?

Jay Grimstead: Jesus asked His disciples to pray: "Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." What we know is that Jesus could not have meant, "None of this is supposed to happen for 2000 years until I come. You are supposed to pray this prayer for 2000 years but expect none of it to happen until I come!" Nobody in their right theological mind would claim that that is what He meant. We know that He had to mean that very year. That century, they were supposed to try to start getting the Roman Empire become a realm where God's name was honored, His will was done and His kingdom was coming. They pulled it off almost by accident. They actually did it! They came a long direction from being a persecuted minority under a one world government where they were killing them to actually running the Roman Empire.

Augustus Caesar was considered "The Son of God and the Savior of the World" according to Roman statements. There was a coin that the Sanhedrin were used to seeing. It had an image of Augustus Caesar on one side. On the back it said, "There is salvation in none other than Augustus and there is no other name given among men by which they may be saved. " That was a direct quote from a Roman coin that Peter was giving them in Acts 4:12. He was essentially saying, "Gentlemen, what we are trying to tell you is there is a new world Emperor on earth now -- a political, legal Emperor -- that your Caesar must bow to or He is out of touch with reality."

  • The Kingdom of God Jesus spoke of was not an earthly kingdom, it's a spiritual Kingdom that grows in the hearts of real Christians. Jesus rebuked his disciples when they assumed that Jesus came to this earth to set up an early Kingdom. So this guy doesn't know his Bible very well.

  • Is it a spiritual Kingdom that grows in the hearts of real Christians here on earth or only after we get to heaven?

If it happens now, then how should we then live?

  • On earth God took the trouble to create the land, sea, mountains, birds, fishes, streams and all things that would inspire us about His wonderful love and greatness. He had hopes that the first human ancester would be faithful to His commandment n will multiply His blessings all over the world n have dominion of goodness over everything. The kingdom on earth would have been a reflection of the kingdom of heaven in spirit realm where God began His work of creation. God never gave up his hopes.

  • For this I am relief that Clear thinking christians in America are waking up and realized that we should work together to establish a kingdom on earth under God and Christ rulership! Thank you for the wonderful videos.

  • About the kiingdom that is still under evil power jesus was right that he is not part of that kingdom. Furthermore, since he was about to be executed, Jesus knew that he belong to the kingdom of God in the spirit realm. And from there, Jesus will continue to work with the faithful to establich a kingdom on earth under God's power and eventually eliminating kingdom on earth under evil powers.

  • God created the cosmos which has physical realm and spiritual realm. originally, if God's love was allowed to rule the spiritual realm and the earthly realm. because of man's betrayal, god's kingdom in the earthly realm was left unacompliched. Jesus reminded us that as a result of sin, on earth there are 2 types of kingdom - kingdom under evil powers and a kingdom under God's power which unfortunately has to be built by the faithful. If it is about the kingdom that is still under evil power.

  • The prayer that Jesus taught brings the believer into the right relation with God, the prayer is not meant to teach world domination or dominion theology...it is to teach the Lord's people to come into communion with God and let His will be done in that person and the kingdom which is "in" the believer to come to fruition.

"Come out from among them and be ye separate saith the Lord".

  • Who is correct, this man or Jesus? Is he speaking truth or error?

"My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm." - Jesus Christ (John 18:36)

Let God be true and every man a liar. - St. Paul the Apostle (Romans 3:4)
