Unbearably bleak and also undeniably brilliant. Peel only played "Uniform" once; on the repeats of the session he omitted it because he was concerned that it might be "too depressing". I was therefore restricted to a TDK cassette Peel session recording from August 2003 (which I still have, actually) until the track came out on the "Harmony" reissue CD.

It's a shame they didn't decide to release this actually, with the drill aswel. They would have made a great single.
Too depressing? nah! It's atmospheric and it's beautiful.

It's Bobby 'primal scream'Gillespie on what is possibly Peter Hooks 5/6 string Yamaha Bass - see New order retro boxset notes for details.

Great. Just great.

so awesome.

Yeah it could possibly be that actually, I never though of that.
I spoke to Caeser about the song and he says that the sample used at the end is from a Godley and Creme track called 'burial scene' from the album 'consequences'. Unfortunately it's only avaliable on vinyl and even that's a rare find.

Isn´t it a six-string-bass ? Like Peter Hooks ? The one not played by the singer but by the other guitarist.

It's also on the CD release of 'Harmony + singles' from LTM, which is what most people can get there hands on these days. Another version is on the live album 'Assembly' which is also available from LTM.

for britdude1961 - this song was never released on album or single - John Peel session (1983) and 'A Factory Outing' VHS (1983)
I've got the real VHS.
