what the hell are you comparing buddy rich to Portnoy for? 2 completely different Genres. No one can dispute Buddy Rich's greatness but it's impossible to compare the too; There's just no basis. Pornoy is my favorite but I certainly won't say he's the most technically proficient. There are many guys who are better technically: Tony Royster, Jr., Billy Cobham, Thomas Lang, Dave Weckl, and the list goes on. But he is definitely one of the greatest all-time prog-rock drummers. No question.
