  • I have a couple of conclusions from the comments to this video:- 1. Many cycle couriers are bores- the kind of people you find pinning you to the corner of a room as they tell you about the last near miss.

    2. Too many Americans are arrogant wankers.

    Nothing new then.

  • what most people don't understand is that when you're a messenger you start to understand traffic and you can calculate the risks when hustling over crossroads and stuff like that of course there's a marginal risk but you get that as well when you're trying to cross a street, no? and finally, messengers are way out there on the streets, loving their jobs, feeling alive and noone who works in an office and is really out of shape knows THAT kinda feeling. WORD!

  • I work as a bicycle courier in Seattle. And let me tell you that what they do is more a matter of skill and less a matter chance than I think you give them credit for. What you say is true about blind corners, however, what is blind to the camera on Lucas Brunelles helmet is not necessarily blind to the riders.

  • @fodera6 ". . ."effective cycling" argue that obeying traffic laws . . ."

. . .is a cyclist's right, duty and the way to stay safe on the road. I think you need to read it again.

  • Did you find a correlation coefficient for this problem? Would love to see your data on the subject.

  • I certainly haven't logged the miles those guys have in the city but I can see both sides. Proponents of "effective cycling" argue that obeying traffic laws and having to use bike lanes negates the fundamental effectiveness of cycling while others that actually obey the laws argue that reckless behavior and flagrant disregard for the laws only serves to further the ignorant and unsavory opinions non-cyclists have towards us. I don't ride for status. I ride so I may live to ride another day.

  • Of course messengers get hit. But compared to the time they spend riding their job is safe...

  • Here's what socialized medicine gets you.

    Orthodontics by Black Cat.

  • Dude ur right, these guys can do whatever they want!!! As far as you posting this video, no body cares what you think. If ur not into it or dont have the skill, then don't do it! SIMPLE! If you want to make money as a messenger you have to hit gaps to make your delivery time! Its a super rewarding job as there is so much variety in scenery and experiences! Stop talking about statistics and shit like that, just live for yourself and what you enjoy!
