@escifi This would be a great Star Trek ship. Love your videos, by the way.

This would make a great ship in star trek. Love the video

Looks very... Martian :)

I like the design alot, just shorten the nacells a bit

wow..

This ship is amazing. It would have to be at least 50 years after Voyager's return home. It might as well have a perfected Quantum Slipstream drive. There is no telling what kind of sensors this thing would have. Obviously, its weapons would be exotic and very powerful. Who knows what kind of shields, armour, and hull materials are used. It is such a beautiful, elegant, and somehow exotic starship. Yet it fits starfleet to a T. It is still classically a Federation Starship. Beautiful.

You know, it may happen to be very fast however it looks extremely weak at the neck.

@SunTrapped Look out for the Romulan warship Coyote

Even the design makes me think beep, beep.
I guess the neck issue comes from the main hull projecting both forward and backwards. I mean, yes, it seems it's the design's weakest point (although you could technobabble it enough to solve it), but then the E-A and the E-D's necks aren't that robust either.
Still, I dont want to lose the classical neck idea. It gives starships a certain elegance (Voyager somehow pulled it off, but I think the E-E looks rather graceless and chunky)

Getting back to the Roadrunner: the Coyote Class would be one of very fast scout ships, a modification of some other class with an elongated stern and more warphole stages per nacelle. Quite small, four or five decks at most, les-than-fifty souls smallish crew (a quirky one at that, hopefully). It would be speciallized in fast deep recon tasks, "hit-and-run like hell" things, proud of turning tail and getting home with the intel.

(It's all an excuse to introduce elements such as gigastructures and things: Earth and the Moon have Orbital Rings, ships are built via large scale industrial replicators, Restricted Von Neumann machinery is commonplace, "Friendy AIs" enjoy citizenship, starships have AIs with avatars, youngsters go through their rebellious "I want to live in a Borg Commune for a couple of years", "New Vulcans" (Vulcan-Romulan) have a sense of humor, and Everybody Is Happy™ (not too conducive to drama, but…).

The era it exists in I don't quite know, a century or one and a half later, perhaps. A timeline in which the Federation have nailed a Genesis Treaty (with some advanced civ supervision, say, the Organians) with the Romulans, Klingons and even the Borg, by which they accord to develop the myriad applications of that science (they could extend up to designer physics) that would eliminate scarcity in any form. Perhaps starting with a MAD approach, later relaxing and enjoying the relationship.

It's a shame that I am rather a terrible modeler, as I want to do this era's Enterprise (E-LX :D ?). It would be all fused curved volumes, have some discrete surface detailing, and be the class of ship one would like to live in (instead of the current death trap lottery all Federation vessels are these days :P).
Tech-wise: a Genesis Effect-power plant instead of a M/AM one; warp drive becomes a first stage jump before enabling a high frequency pseudo-wormhole ("WarpHole") emitter, "ShipSkin"…

The idea of capping the deflector dish (now a "Main WarpHoler" thingy) with a glowing radome-like cupola I guess it came from George Pal's martian war machines. That, and seeing that the current trend in detailing the dish was messing with its cleanliness. I wanted the nacelles flattish, angled and longish to reflect their power via simplicity and sleekness instead of chunkyness. I would have wanted to fuse the pylons to the stardrive section more smoothly, but I had trouble with my modeler app.
