@RohoSombrero Notre Dame has a weak schedule? They only play Michigan, Michigan St., Stanford, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Navy, Utah, and USC this year. If BYU were to play one of those schools they would be happy. ND plays a TOUGH schedule. But I do agree with you in thinking BYU going independent is crazy.

I think this is crazy on so many levels. No one wants us in their conference, what makes anyone think anyone will play us? They will be another Notre Dame, weak schedules every year. The fan base will drop off if they lose a game early with no conference to contend for, and kiss the BCS goodbye forever. Army and Navy have to be in the top two to get a BCS bowl and BYU is certainly not going to get a better deal. I think BYU planned to float a rumor to try to get more money and it backfired.
