This is my first laser, firing a beam at a piece of paper. It's powered by a lead-acid battery driving 2n3773 flyback. The high voltage is fed into a spark gap made with a hose connector and a screw, the dielectric is 2 sheets of overhead projector film, and the rails are made of aluminum (I had to remove the anodized finish). The laser itself only took about 30 minutes to build, but hours of adjustment. This is actually the first of 5 other failed lasers that (reliably) works. Feel free to ask me any questions, for I have a lot of troubleshooting experience. Credit to c4r0hv (youtube), 4hv.org, and laserpointerforums.com for helping me with this.

Darn, I wish youtube would let me change the thumbnail of this video!
