I would stick to Nvida for sure. The 470 would be a great deal for now or you could wait for the new 560. I am looking forward to the 448 core version and might sell my 550 Ti to put towards it. GTX480 is fast card but they have a history as you stated and they run so hot. Not sure how fast the 448 will be but heard its in the range of 570/580.

Didn't see your comment until now not sure why ? But yea I'm reading to many forum post about 5870 having strange problems especially in the games I play .
The 470 sell around 160 and I'm probably going with that. I'm still waiting to see what the 448 560 is like.

Really Leaning towards 2 5870s. But my main concern is game compatibly, do you think it will be a big issue for current games and ones to come?.

@EthanTheExplorer I guess you could but I prefer Nvidia and the drivers are so much better.

@ComputerTechTV I'm going with 2 gtx 470s, they're REALLY hard to find used. I mean there's not the best selection. I was also Hopping that Asus made one with a aftermarket heatsink but they don't. So. It looks like I'm stuck with gigabyte and sparkle for more cooling. The sparkle one comes with the AC accelero extreme and I'm a big fan of that cooler but not a big fan of sparkle...
