@Clicephas for a long time I planning to post my videos on youtube but I still have no money to buy good camera to record my playing...sorry..only way to hear me is on falseta.com(flamenco forum)....
@VMGIAN Again, you should know about the artist before coming to such a conclusion. Apparently. you never listened to him you never owned an album from him. No matter what you will not be able to see him as a master, because he does not fit in your perception. You have to get rid of your prejudices.
@VMGIAN So Juan Martin, is more on the traditional or rather original side of the Nuevo Flamenco, while Paco and Vicente is trying to infuse their music with western style such as Jazz, Juan Martin composes in Moorish or eastern style or rather closer to the original forms, but still different and new.
My suggestion, before you judge an artist, you have know about him first, afterall, art is about communicating the incommunicable with plain texts. Learn and know well before you speak.
@VMGIAN So in summary, if you really to Juan Martin's lessons he repeatedly says that Flamenco is something very difficult to define and his efforts is merely trying to give the people a basic sense of it. And if you buy and listen his albums each comes with a deductive flyer cover and especially Musica Alhambra gives the listener info about the culture of flamenco. This reflects Juan Martin's efforts as new interpretation of Flamenco without destorying its origins.
@VMGIAN But this as I said, is not an invention, it is the application of her style. And since such a music is rejected by the popular western culture it will not be popular. Westerners prefer easy listening, light hearted music which is familiar to their ears. The best example for this is Ottmar Liebert who produces worthless pieces of music but manages to sell his work under the name of nuevo flamenco and people by it more than they by Paco, or Vicente, or Juan Martin.
@VMGIAN As for the Nuevo Flamenco if you make a research on the subject Juan Martin is also mentioned among the leaders of this wave along with Paco and Tomatito. While Vicente is considered the as next generation. If you have made a research about Juan Martin you would have known that his focus, especially in later years was to prevent the adultarization of the flamenco music under the name of "nuevo." In the album Musica Alhambra he "invents" a style which would be foregin to your ears e.g.
@VMGIAN Well first of all, the term "invent" does not apply here. If you knew Flmenco Music you'd also have known that each and every well known player has his own style such as Manolo Caracol, Sabicas, Diego del Gastor etc. And these in your terms were all inventors. Paco has his own style as well and the way he holds the guitar is not indiginously belong to Paco as well as solo playing. However the significance of Paco is that he made flamenco popular world wide with light hearte compositions.
@Fussinated and Vicente is a "natural continuation" of Paco de Lucia and also true virtuoso on guitar..He also has his own unique style of playing.....Paco and Vicente are two greatest flamenco guitarist ever....And this man!!...what he has done??? He is little kid compare to paco, vicente and other guitarist that i mentioned at first comment....Watch this video on you tube and you'll see what other guitarists telling about paco...(/watch?v=kmEq28jMcFc) Juan Martin isn't mentioned anywhere..
