The weight gain worries me, she can hardly keep up with the background gang at points nor dance anymore, but the voice is stii ther and the desire. Long Live the Queen.

Aretha used to have such a great voice along with that soul. Too bad she didn't take care of it. She still has the soul, but the voice-not so much. Meanwhile, Radio DJ Pervis Spann Gave her the "Queen Of Soul" title-(not "Queen of Music".) in the 60's. Re goes overboard with that now that her voice is subpar.

Genius indeed. But her obesity is much more recent - she started putting on weight mid 93 onwards ,after she stopped smoking. In fact 87 to 92 she looked really good.
