this would be fabulous scenery music for a scientology video.

@FFThis He owes a lot to Cobain for getting the chance. "Loser" was written off as an upbeat, hipster variation on the grunge movement in '94. What's hilarious to me is that he meant for the title to only reflect on himself, as he felt like a loser for slapping together so many non-sequiturs (and nonsensical phrases) against a generic backbeat. He never imagined people would adopt it as some sort of slacker anthem...
...which is why when Odelay dropped, people were like "WTF is this genius?!"

Creativity doesn't sell these days. Mimickry does, and we all know the capitalist-driven music industry is all about making money.
Play music, share music, and create, but don't feed the monster.

Another triumph for Mr. Hansen

This is my favorite song on modern guilt, although it may not be the best. it's just so fast moving, i really like it

@FFThis dont be that much pesimistic, there are plenty of labels slash suporters of good music, and lot of space to present yourself at, your not alone, though, with this opinion

I agree with you completely about how the current music scene is becoming more and more generic and utterly retarded. Beck is still an oustanding individual with creativity and humor that is refreshing to this stagnant pool of "music."
Also, its nice to see some intellegent comments in YouTube.

Beck is lucky he came out when he did.. that he just fit the mold of that time period enough to get signed to a record label.. If it was now and he was trying to come out.. even with this album.. I just highly doubt he would be getting signed now a days.. talent is being wasted.. because "they" don't want music that has any meaning or creativity behind it anymore.. Can't have people thinking now can we?

This is one of my favorites off of Modern Guilt. I'm still trying to get used to the kind of hazy direction he's going with this album but I know I really like this one, and of course Gamma Ray and Orphans.
