@guitboxchicken built for the Grand Trunk but spent most of its life on the Canadian National. It's a class 0-18a 0-6-0 switcher built in 1921

I am in awe of how far the CSRR has come. I remember the first season in '74 riding in an open 'cattle car' behind the 7470 when they only ran between N. Conway and Conway. Their history is a fascinating one and it's good to know that they'll be preserving steam for ruture generations.

Great footage! Nicely put together! Was there in 1982 for railfan weekend! Nice to see it hasnt changed much! They used to run steam more then i think. The dome car is a new addition. I remember riding wooden cars with oil lamps and coal stoves. The white mountains are so scenic! Thanks for sharing!

Amazing isn't it?
does the steam loco ever do crawford notch excursions?

Yes, albiet on very rare occasion... the last time was in July 07 with a club-organized excursion. Every year for Railfan Weekend the railroad says there is a "possibility of steam to the Notch on Sunday," but it hasn't happened in years.
