French is dead, long live English Rwanda!

REPORTERS - After 100 years of French as the official language in Rwanda, President Paul Kagame has led his country to join the British the Commonwealth. What are the reasons behind this move?

English is the way to go. Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania speaks it. Rwanda is a land locked country and she needs to communicate with neighboring countries. We can't be divided in order to work together. We have to have a common language. Thank you Mr. Kagame for introducing English to Rwanda.

Its totally reasonable and logical to replace French with English;

1) English is the most widely spoken language in the contemporary world

2) Almost all modern technologies are invented base on English language, e.g. computer and internet.

Hopefully, in the next century English will become the native language for all mankind, the unification of human civilization under one single language and culture; English.

"This is a tightly controlled country...no locals would speak on camera...Everybody follows the govt's stated lines" Not only are you exaggerating the capacity of the Rwandan government, you're forgetting that this is a country of 11 million and there's just no way a govt can silent 11 million people without creating massive resentment from the population. Plus, the simply fact that you;re in the country is proof of the laxity of rwandan media laws.

Am a Cameroonian and we are bilingual, but I must tell you that the English speaking Cameroonians are far far better than the French speaking because we are straight forward people, transparent and open. The French speaking are just so corrupt and look down on us, but we don't care because we do love ourselves. English is the best... Good decision President of Rwanda....

SO! I learnt French so if Ireland fails I can still depend on mother's side of the family in Rwanda, for no REASON!! The last time I've been in Rwanda, Kinyarwanda was already slowly being left for French. Now I'm going to live in a UK colony country quite soon. Very annoying.

english is a much more easy and natural (though it is not black peoples natural language) language for blacks to speak....black people dont look right speaking french....it looks unatural!
