Crab Trap with Door

On Blue Crab Archives, Carlos from Austin wrote about using a crab trap with a door instead of the funnel entry. I decided to make one and give it a try. My first run with the new trap was in the middle of January, not a great time to catch crabs. I did find that the trap worked as you can see by the one crab that I caught. Looking forward to trying it when the crabs start running.

you need to bait it, and to use an undersea camera, to study the behavior of the crab near the trap.

if it is baited, it will catch like the other.

the best is to combine the two technologies.

I was thinking about making the same kind of trap, but I wasn't sure if the crab would find the door also I was thinking maybe me if another crab was entering another could escape when the door was open... not sure but now I know they can find the door now. I was also thinking of making a trap that you can toss from bank and retrieve but I have yet to figure it out lol cool vid thanks
