Slideshow of the best of the Star Trek transporter accidents from all the series and movies. Ok, I know some of these were intentional, or hacks, or more disorders than accidents - so let's just consider them funky transporter things. : )

  • I can't read #10. White font on a light background is hard to read.

  • "Turned back into seniors"

  • actually i would put TMP as number 1. for what ever reason the ds9 version wasn't as "real" to me. I'm not sure why that is.

  • Well, I think the reason for the TMP seeming more real is pretty clear. The sequence comes out of the blue, is shocking, is more drawn out and has poor Sonak screaming in pain: "AAAHGHHH!" BRUTAL!

  • You missed the STNG episode where they were beamed onto a planet scattered and i think Laforge was hanging upside down from a tree.

  • Yeah -- The Last Outpost. It didn't make the Top 20 cut.

  • 13 wasn't an accident. It was a jerry rig to try and use the transporter to keep Scotty and his crewmate alive while they awaited rescue.

  • transporters always given me the creeps!

  • Screw transporters, ill take a shuttle over transporter any day! I mean, being broken down into molocules then being put back together somewhere else--- you have to trust the person at the control panel. What if they hate you? Or if they want your job? Imagine how that would go: "oh yeah, John? I accidently beamed him into a wall, and the transporter's jammed. Its gonna take at least 3 months to fix. I'd be happy to take on his job while he's gone, though." HELL no!

  • Any wonder McCoy was paranoid about using them.

  • transporter = dematerializing you (breaking you down molecule to atoms), keeping in memory banks the data of your body and mental state at the time of break down, then rematerializing you at an other place (building you up based on a data in memory). So is that the real you? or Just a computerized copy of your "state".

  • No way would I use one of those things...

  • @anton7580 YEah, you would think that with all the upgrades they make to the engines, shields, and phasers, somewhere along the line they should get to transporters! =D. Of course, they would lose one of their best plot devices =P

  • @PassiveSmoking I was just going to say exactly the same thing. 13 wasn't an accident.

  • 17 and 13 were on purpose.

The aliens wanted Picard and their captain to be stuck on the planet so that they could get to know each other.

Scotty rigged the transporters so that he could live long enough to be rescued.

  • A lot of these weren't accidents.

  • @mokwella Thank you very much
