The song is a rhythm called Pajarillo, and is considered one of the different forms of the joropo, (music from the Plains of Colombia and Venezuela) the pajarillo is the typical framework for the 'recio' style singing. Its lyrics usually allude to the singer's pride in his culture and homeland, and in being a man of the earth.
