Bobby Knight was right about Bird have possibly the best hand eye coordination ever in the NBA. Bird was easily one of the slowest and worst jumpers in the NBA. Bird found a way to master the game with his quick brain and amazing hand eye coordination. Bird was either a runner up MVP or an MVP for 7 years throughout the 80's. With Larry's hand eye coordination I always thought he could have been a good player in Major League baseball.

I was the one that found that data ..remembe Merkin when kiddos said Bird was a bad defender cause he was slow? BIrd wasn`t slow he was quick footed and had an agil coordinated body.. He was not a potent player, yeah but his mind quickness, foot quickness and great hands made him a defensive threat for steals etc. Bird and Barkley the Best Forwards i Ever Saw

Another great post -It is long overdue to show Bird's great hands, instincts and defense. Against Jordan & Bulls in 87 Bird made a steal late in 4th Qtr to ice game & silence crowd. After game Bird said "I had it the whole game" "I waited until the 4th Qtr" -killer instinct + B-ball IQ-Bird recognized Bulls plays + knew what they were running. Jordan had 42 on 19 of 35, Bird had 38 on 18 of 31 (7 of 9 in 4th qtr) 9 rebs and 8 assists-outplaying Jordan in Chicago. Bird's defense sealed the game.
