In the 1990's, the officers of the Gibbstown Fire Department started specialty training that included Rope Rescue, Confined Space Training and Trench Rescue among others. A few years ago, due to rising costs and realizing the need for more man power, Gibbstown, Deptford (Fire District 9) and Washington Twp. (Fire District 10) came to an agreement that they would have their smaller, individual teams train and work together. In 2008, this group became the Gloucester County Technical Rescue Taskforce and is available to respond to calls not only in the county, but is also on the box for calls through out South Jersey.
