  • Good ideas are spur of the moment.

  • The perfect example of what he is saying in the TV series House. This briliant doctor only makes his amazing diasgnosis via bouncing ideas off of his team. Individually neither the team or Dr. House can figure out an illness. But together House has the environment where he can save lives.

  • So it turns out we can use the same technology that was built to target nuclear weapons at Moscow to find a nearby coffee shop where we can collaborate on the design of the next weapon system ... or a new way for our kids to learn.

  • The title of the video seems to be begging for a rather humorous follow up involving a body orifice.

  • @selvmordspilot Now that is a point we are both 100% in agreement on. I am against copyright and patients very much. At least with how fast our technology is advancing, it should be very short. And yes it is a side effect of it, but that being said, these companies normally take the profits and design better technology with it, thus fueling improvements.

But yes, copyrights do get in the way. Hence I hate apple so much, as they restrict heavily on what you can use their devices for.

  • @bluefootedpig : Indeed true. I'm very optimistic about the benefits of technological development, even in the confines of capitalism.. But taking leftover technology is not always a possibility, due to copyright laws - one of the most destructive side effects of capitalism.

I think the above video provides a strong case of how important an open environment is to the development of ideas.. But I dare say, as long as we have global capitalism, we'll have a vigorous enforcement of copyright.

  • @selvmordspilot Sure lets look at coca cola. They manage to make a profit in third world countries, obviously not selling it for the same cost as here in America. Here, there is a lot of overhead, but that is the price we pay for freedom of enterprise. But look at like india, who invented the fake leg that works as good as American versions, but only costs 28 dollars compared to our 2,000. They are taking our leftover technology, and finding ways to make cheap goods for everyone.

  • @selvmordspilot How do you make climate circular? Or we do make artifical bio domes to protect from the cold so everyone can live in a great climate year round? And even in a circular city, people will value different parts different. Myself, I would want to be within walking distance of a dog park, a fresh farmers market, and local entertainment. Someone else might want to be closer to a baseball park. But i value that for nothing. We all have personal value systems, and that can't be changed.

  • With a new system comes a new "zeitgeist" - or that's the philosophy at least. Perhaps when we stop manipulating peoples needs, they'll deflate a bit and be more realistic.. Only thing i know for sure is, that if we don't stop, they wont change - they'll probably just grow and grow until there's no other choice but warfare.

Also, the mentioned simple fact, is a problem solved by a circular arrangement of cities. Relatively equal distance to all services for all inhabitants.

  • @bluefootedpig : This is true. technology is driving down prices. But let's have a look at the prices shall we. I think coca cola is very representative of how capitalism works. 15% of the cost of a bottle of coke, covers the production and transport etc.. The last 85% go to marketting (and profit). The commercial industry is the biggest industry there is, as far as i'm informed.

Also, things get cheaper - but they keep inventing jobs and needs to match this.
