Canadian scrollsaw artist Dave Danchuk shows how to cut out wooden letters using his scrollsaw and a piece of pine. See more of his work, or place an order for wooden initials, letters, words or phrases at: http://www.amazedcreations.com
Hi im from the uk, and really want to get into scrolling, however as i only have my garage to scroll (thinking of buying an excalibur) i am worried about the dust issue, and the fact id be breathing in fine particles of dust. Id love to cut letters from thin plywood or even several layers of greyboard stacked together to embelish and sell at craft fairs. Could you let me know about the dust issue, and whether a scroll saw would cut greyboard many thanks
@trinitydore Hey there, I usually have the door open to solve my dust problem, but you can easily make a suction box that will hook up to a vacuum. Just make sure the screen you use is smaller than any pieces you hope to cut. nobody likes looking for small lost pieces of wood, especially me. I'm not too sure what greyboard is, but I would assume that a scrollsaw can cut it, depending on the blades you use. There are even blades for cutting coins!
@yangmotso You're life will be much better off with something better than a cheap scrollsaw. Less headaches. Check on Craigslist, and if you live in an area that has it, ask for one on freecycle. You never know...
your video was actually very productive i really wanted to learn how to cut the inside of a letter for example the letter O or D and you actually did it ....instead of the other videos where they don't know how to properly set a camera angle and all you end up seeing is 2 fat hands . thanks again usable knowledge
