  • I'll be visiting Utah Trikes next week. How are you liking your Rover?

  • @vegasrenie it is heavy so up hill climbs are harder then on a bike and on soft trails (ie. C&O canal) is also more tiring. if you get the fenders don't get 2x20 Big Apples, if you want them get the 1.75x20 they fit under the fenders better and a less likely to rub.

  • @vegasrenie

on the other hand descents on a heavy trike esp. one with the Schlumpf high speed drive is thrilling I pull away and am at 20+mph on each small descent and have yep to find the top speed on mine... and am a little afraid to. my top gear is rated at 29mph @ a poky 60rpm - and insane and probably unreachable 58mph @ 120rpm

  • Now THAT's the way to accessorize! I especially like the headlights.

  • @rasalus1

Thanks the guys at Utah Trikes built this to my specs, I'm now looking for a bigger cog (30t) to give me a 17-136 range. this would give me a better granny gear but take away the insane descent gear

  • @todesschatten I've had my Path Custom for almost 2 years now, and I love it just as much as the day I bought it. Utah Trikes Rocks (Shout out to Bryce)! I agree about the tires. Ive got the Marathon Plus 1.75's (I'm 280lbs) and I've never had any problems or punctures (lots of double track and backwoods path travel). Plus, on the pavement they produce a lot less friction than the 2" tires.

  • I use SPD clips that helps the uphill speed quite a bit, I'm learning to pedal in a wide circular motion (as I visualize it) so that I get maximum power from pedaling. The mirror issue is a problem, I can't get it to point right and there is this narrow gate. So I'm probably getting helmet mirrors. I use handle bar bags on the rear seat.

  • @todesschatten Thanks for the info. I'll be looking for as low a gear as I can afford because high speed on a trike and me don't mix, lol. I don't know for sure if I'll get a Rover, but it's at the top of my short list!
