Using four stepper motors and some pieces of aluminum I created this small CNC machine. I designed my own stepper motor controller to run the machine. Also had to make a software package for controlling the machine. I made it in Visual Basic. It uses a serial port to communicate commands to the CNC machine. The complete sequence of g-code is sent to the controller where it is stored in memory then the machine follows the instructions to complete the cutting sequence. Pretty cool.

  • Great video!! You would love to work where I do. Some of the machines I work on have every component of the machine you made. Interesting. My mind doesnt work that way, but, I can imagine some of the things you can come up with, with a little know how and some stepper servo motors.
