Stephen Tharp recorded this work by Reger 2 days before this pipe organ was removed so structural work could be carried out in the organ chambers. This piece shows all of the soft stops of this beautiful Kilgen Organ.

If you can help make a donation to the organ restoration fund at Our Lady of Refuge it would be greatly appreciated. Please send your check to the rector at:

  • Such beautiful playing and registration, typical Kilgen strings and they are gorgeous, I may have to send another donation to the organ fund, Thanks Stephen!!

  • Kalmus makes an edition of this in a book entitled, "Max Reger Twelve Pieces for Organ, Opus 80. Kalmus #K02265. I purchased a copy in 2008 so it should be available. Good luck!!

  • sounds lovely! :D

does anyone know where I can get the music for this?

  • WOW! I am learning this piece and I am so impressed with the span of your hands...and the wonderful placement of things...BRAVO BRAVO!

  • Kilgen did make Theatre Organs. There are only two remaining, their instrument in the Palace Theatre in Canton, Ohio, is one of only two remaining in its original home.

  • You played that with such feeling! God Bless you and your music. :)

  • This is a very fine organ you have here. Very nicely played Mr. Tharp! To be honest, it doesn't sound like a restoration is necessary. Imagine how more beautiful the sound would be after the restoration! Keep me posted on the progress please. Did Kilgen also make theatre organs as well?

  • Yep, it's gonna be restored as is (hence appeal for donations to organ restoration fund). It's just gorgeous, isn't it? And trust me, I know gorgeous organs and I don't just let any old organ claim that title - it's gotta be pretty special.
