and click on SCREATURES for details. My earliest childhood memory: A woman bleeds all over our front porch as my dad bandaged her head up. She jumped off of a bridge into the ravine in front of our house. We lived one block from the KS State Mental Institution. I grew up in Topeka Kansas, "The Mental Health Capital of the World" with more mental institutions than any other city on earth. My dad was a psychiatric social worker at the Veterans Administration all his life. He told me about hypnotic voyages he took into his patient's dreams. He felt like he was right there with them. Months later, he could take himself and his patient back into any given dream. I was fascinated by this altered state, this virtual reality and wanted to write a script about it. I wrote a feature: Screatures. About a Psychiatrist's psychological war with his cold war relic, lobotomized patient, Mr. Trickler. I would love to see this film redone on a little higher budget. Any takers out there??
