Cheers GILKSY for all the infos, no ylod here, just ps3 sounded like a jet engine on full fan constant, couldnt watch blu-rays like it =/ stripped down, new artic thermal paste, and jobs a good'n, ps3 been on for 5 hours and its as silent as when i brought it =) ... sonys messy thermal paste job was embaressing to see, more paste on sides of chip than on the top of it lol
mine was different also, 2008 uk 40gb ps3, had a black psu and the blu-ray drive cable is underneath it, also has some metal shield over the blutooth\wireless card, still, it all comes apart the same way, more or less just unscrew everything lol got mine working fine today
Thank you so much Gilksy for this informative video!! I revived my PS3 that I've owned since 2007. For those who want to know what I used as far as thermal compound goes, arctic silver 5. All in all I spent a total of 35 bucks on thermal compound, a heat gun, and torx screwdriver kit. Thanks again and good luck to all! -fOxTrOt6024
hello everyone! i got a question: My ps3 got overheated (red light, i cant switch it on) and i´ve been searching how to repair it, do i have to do something with the fan? how can i clean it?? THX
@FSX56 Just follow the video! :) It's easy. If I can do it, you can. You just need everything mentioned in gilksys pdf. :) I've fixed mine (a 40gb) and a friends 60gb using the videos :)
Or google console repairs, there's loads of companies out there that do it (usually for under £40) and they give warranties.

@davidtatey ignore me. I've sorted it. I checked that I had connected the cables up, and I had. So I formatted the HD.
