UCLA Wind Ensemble - Damnation of Faust

This is from a concert in 1993 of Tom Lee's UCLA Wind Ensemble playing "Damnation of Faust" by Hector Berlioz. I was playing first tuba in this group, with Blake Helander on second tuba.

My uncle took the footage, and some of the beginning is cut off, as it was the first song in the concert and perhaps he got there late or forgot to turn on his camera. Not the best camerawork, but the group was quite good.

Don't ask me where the two frames of somebody vacuuming in the beginning came from, because I have no idea.

Dr. Lee conducted us (us being the California All-State Wind Symphony) in 2006...this was our opener...he must really really love this song.

Yep, Dr. Lee was always over the top. These college students you see here aren't kids anymore, as this performance was in 1993.

We played this at the Texas Music Educators Association convention. I was in the All-State 5A Symphonic band. It was also our opener.
