  • I think every generation has its own version of devdas movie. I saw this movie in a matinee show in late sixties. My dad told me to see "aslee devdas" with Saigal. Luckily, it was playing in a matinee a month later. I saw it. Everything was great, until the song "Dukhke din ab bitat nahee". After the song, devdas fires his gun, a towngirl engrossed in the song loses her matka, devdas runs after her screaming paru, paru. "Are tum?" In the nasal voice girlrespnds,"Haan Mein". Sounded Funny

  • Another Devdas classic. Heart rending scene, when Devdas is seeing Chandramukhi last time ever, and both know that to be the case. Mubarak Begum's emotive singing here brings out all the turmoil in Chandramukhi's voice to express her true and slefless love for Devdas. I don't think any other movie like Bimal Roy's Devdas could be made for such a sad story as Devdas'. I wish someone would find and upload the video of this song from the movie. It is an unforgettable scene. Thanks Ajay ji.

  • MB lends such authenticity to a mujra song. It's as if she observed the finest mujras to get the nuances right.
