I'm from HK and have a great deal of pride in the MTR and the octopus pass :P looks like singapore's copied our octopus pass. (pre-empting any argument. We had it first. 1997.)
All in all the mrt looks pretty good too though.

You are right. Hong Kong does have a fabulous system especially in from the airport. Fast, efficient, clean.
