I was protesting another checkpoint. All night I watched as a police officer pulled people over for the crime of turning right, just before the checkpoint. It didn't matter if our signs influenced their judgement or not. Officer S. Walters badge #307 would pull them over anyway. They all ended with the individual being kidnapped and having his property stolen by the Escondido Police department. Well I had witnessed about enough that I could take for one night and so decided to walk home. I turned and pressed the crosswalk button. I then turned around and started talking again. When I turned around the red stop hand was flashing. So I pushed the button again and waited again. This time when it changed I crossed the street. As I started to cross the street Matt got a phone call from his dad who had just pulled up. Matt had been recording from his phone. As soon as the costumed thug saw that Matt had stopped recording he sped out of the parking lot where he was parked and pulled up along side me nearly hitting me with his patrol car as I stepped up on the curb on the other side. He told me to stop and that I was being detained. He then cited me for jay walking. I kept my mouth shut because I knew better than to speak to the likes of him. He demanded my ID but I wasn't carrying any. He then demanded I identify myself. Rather than go thru the ordeal Pete had in Keene I ultimately gave him what he wanted. The worst part is knowing I have 5 witnesses that will testify to the fact that I crossed when it was appropriate and if the one police officer shows up I'll probably still have to pay the fine.

  • @ice1988cream no one cares hahaha

  • @Ice1988Cream escondido compared to the rest of california have the lowest car accidents and drunk driving related deaths, not even cities that have high numbers hold these checkpoints

  • @ThePsychoticnut if you really want to help out... try helping out at the bottom and work your way to the top.... Do community service in your city and/or Escondido... Try to become part of MADD, DADD or another type of organization that helps and keeps drunk drivers off the street. Make presentations about the importance of it to schools. Join a designated drivers program and help others... You have pretty loud voice, use it for that not this! Nice chatting with you. =) Have a great day!

  • @ThePsychoticnut ....So an unlicensed driver swerved and kills a familly of 4? That is why they shouldn't be driving. Like you wrote "If you aren't doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about". So today it is checkpoints because you don't want to show your dl and tomorrow its going to be police officers should not be able to drive around the streets because you feel that they are violating your rights by patrolling an area (and you feel you are being watched) so it is harassing you?

  • @ThePsychoticnut, So you think you're doing people a favor now? Including EPD? First of all, that is the reason why if a vehicle tries to avoid a checkpoint, it should be stopped... They could be Under the Influence. Even if they didn't swerve there, they are bound to swerve somehwere else... If a civilian does forget their wallet on thier dresser, they will just get a citation and not get their vehicle towed... if it is proven they do have a drivers license through their computer system.

  • @Ice1988Cream Sure but think if we weren't there. Suppose a drunk, having to happen upon the checkpoint suddenly, swerved into on coming traffic and killed a family of 4? Suppose an unlicensed driver suddenly were to happen upon the checkpoint, swerve and kill one of the cops manning it? And how about the people who forget their wallet on their dresser. Now their car is towed. Bad things happen all the time. It doesn't justify violating my rights and even if it did it should still be my choice.

  • @ThePsychoticnut .... which seems like they have more rights but that is only for officer safety. And the reason why another unit assisted the wonderful officer was because of officer safety. Once you walked up to the area the officer was performing the stop (especially you harassing the officer the way you were) made the scene unsafe.

  • @ThePsychoticnut First of all, those "People wearing a costume and a chunk of metal" deserve the respect! If you really want to make a difference become a law enforcement officer (try putting up with people like yourself and 10x worse) and move your way up to Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain then Chief. See if you think you don't deserve to be respected. Law Enforcement Officers have added laws that aid them in performing their duties to deal with civilians such as yourself lawfully...

  • @ThePsychoticnut Thats probably not what you are trying to do, but you ARE.

  • @ThePsychoticnut Did you ever happen to think that one of the criminals not driving through the checkpoint bc of protesters is wanted for homicide? Then what? "oh its just one felon, it won't really make a difference in stats?" Have you ever had a loved one killed by a drunk driver? I did as well as many others in America & i wished many times that they had been stopped by police and arrested. Hence the DUI/License Checkpoints. Every arrest counts. It doesn't matter if it only makes .001% diff.
