Like thousands of students in Illinois and around the world, at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, students at Mark Bills School recited the Gettysburg Address to mark the bicentennial of Lincolns birthday as well as to break a Guinness World Record.
The video is of sixth graders at Marks Bills Middle School reading the Gettysburg address. According to the Lincoln museum in Springfield, state officials, students and a Lincoln impersonator all recited the Gettysburg Address along with Illinois schoolchildren and others the world over following along on the Internet. The record they're trying to break is under the category of Most People Reading Aloud Simultaneously in Multiple Locations which was set in the Guinness record in December 2006, when 223,363 participants read from E.B. Whites Charlottes Web.
