Wecht left politics in 1984 after serving four years as a county commissioner, during which time he ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate. He has said legal wrangling and five lawsuits filed over the theft allegations harmed his career until late 1992, when he reached a $200,000 settlement with the county.
THANKS A LOT KAREN RUSSO!!!! I'd like to know what the reason for sending my brother's body to Wecht for a second autopsy. He wouldn't answer one single question and I hold you responsible!
Hollis, who also worked as a private employee for Wecht, pleaded guilty on Jan. 3, 2007, to the tax evasion and false statements charges and pleaded guilty to a charge of theft from an organization receiving federal funds. He resigned in 2005 during the FBI probe of Wecht. Prosecutors claimed Hollis cost county taxpayers more than $50,000 by performing private work when he was supposed to be doing county work. ...
Former U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan charged Wecht with 84 counts of fraud and theft, accusing him of using county-paid employees and resources to benefit his private consulting business. More than half the charges were dropped before trial, and a jury in 2008 couldn't reach a verdict on the remaining 41 counts. Buchanan in June dropped an attempt to retry Wecht after U.S. District Judge Sean McLaughlin ruled that much of the evidence in the case was illegally obtained. ...
Probation granted in ex-county coroner official's tax case
By Brian Bowling
U.S. District Judge Arthur Schwab declined to add home confinement to the sentence for George Hollis, 64, of Hazelwood, saying there was no reason he should be the only person caught up in the dismissed case against former Coroner Dr. Cyril H. Wecht to suffer substantial punishment. ....
Probation granted in ex-county coroner official's tax case

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Saturday, March 20, 2010
A federal judge Friday sentenced the former chief histologist of the Allegheny County Coroner's Office to 12 months of probation for failing to file an income tax return and lying about private work he did on county time. ...
Karen Russo of the the Wrongful Death and Injury Institute and Cyril H. Wecht both dropped the ball regarding finding out the manner of my brother's passing. Come to find Wecht had been indicted on 84 federal felony counts and at the time back in April of 2010 this was going on with Wecht's right hand man Joseph Mancuso was sentenced on April 4, 2010 for filing false tax returns. This is just the tip of the iceberg concerning these two crooked individuals. Good guys they are not!
Back in April of 2010 I lost my younger brother who had spent 20+ years in prison. He was allegedly found hanging by the neck. I called Karen Russo and after the first autopsy was performed she recommended Cyril H. Wecht out of Pittsburgh to do a second forensic autopsy. We flew my brother all the way to Pittsburgh, per Karen Russo's recommendation and when it was all said and done, the infamous "Dr." Wecht could not answer one single question. His excuse was the distance he lived from Texas?
Is this stuff on front page newspapers when this disgusting stuff happens? Good on her for advocaating wherever there is an injustice. Crims deserve to serve their time though for their crime. We need people like Karen Russo - she is paving the way and exposing the sorts of things that are going to happen (and worse) when the roundup begins!
I love how people are unaware that many people in jail are innocent or dont belong there. The prisons are now for profit. They have caught judges guilty of making money off putting kids in jail and adults for crimes that warrant a citation. No person should have his/her freedom taken unjustly,
This is why people comitt crimes over and over and over. Becuase they don't give a shit if they go back because they know people will raise hell and bitch until the prisoners receive things that some people who have never comitted any crimes do not have. In my opinion if they are dumb enough to break to law then they deserve to be treated like a peice of S*** until they are released. The amount of tax dollars spent to maintain prison facilities is freakin rediculous.
