This is the unguarded U.S./Canadian Border area of the Peace Arch Park. It strattles the U.S and Canadian International border between Blaine, Washington State and Surrey, British Columbia, Canada at the edge of Puget Sound. While vehicle traffic is processed and monitored, the entire border area is unguarded and unfenced from both the American and Canadian sides. Often people slip between the countries undetected due to the features of this unique park. It was created to celebrate the 100 years of peace between the two nations following the signing of the treaty ending the War of 1812. It comprises about 42 acres of land in both nations, which was partially purchased through the pennies, nickels and dimes of school children of British Columbia and Washington State in 1931.

  • Imagine if they had 1 of these on the U.S./Mexico border.

California's population would double over night

  • Now everyone knows about this border crossing and they will put strip search machines and attack dogs at the "Peace Crossing". Thanks.

  • Being mexican american, its almost funny.

  • @saadasim Why do you care? Michigan is nowhere near the Peace Arch border crossing lol

  • Where's our park with Mexico :( no fair

  • It's just symbolic. It doesn't mean you can just cross undetected. LOL.

  • While you can walk across the border within the park, and there is no fence, you will not be able to enter from one country and exit into the other. The border guards are watching and will arrest you. Peace Arch is not some obscure crossing either. It sits at top of I-5 and bottom of Hwy 99 in Canada between Seattle and Vancouver. It is the highest traffic crossing in BC and probably Western Canada.

  • @mxeric1 There is one exactly like this one! but there in the process of closing it, its called Friendship Park right on the San Diego-Tijuana border it was establish as a bi-national park, i remember i use to go there as a kid and have pick nicks since it was close to the beach, but you could not go any further in to the U.S., same with this one its a Canadian-American park between the 2 country's but the border inspectors are just a few meters further south from that arch, look at the video
