I had a canary that was trained. I never had his cage closed. He would come over to the table as we ate, so friendly. He lived only 4 yrs. Your's is adorable..we have another male, singer of course... Sushi Chop Chop..what a name huh?

Actually I have read that the male would stop singing because he doesn't then, have to call in the female. Don't know for sure, only what I have read.

thank you all for your thoughtful comments about sweet Pete. The house is very quiet now but sometimes I feel his little spirit near <3 I am truly honored to see how many of you have taken the time to view this video and experience the magic these little birds express vocally.

Sadly Mr. Peterman passed away today very peacefully. I thanked him for his beautiful songs, wonderful company all these years and let him know he will be missed. He was 7 yrs. old

Can anyone tell me how you 'train' your canary to be out of his cage, without hurting himself.?

hi TKRawer, in addition to the above comment, careful of windows and mirrors as they will fly into them full force or out of them - both of which you DON'T want to happen! and obviously no other pets in the room ie: dogs or cats

When you add to a male canary female canary, he's going to sing more :o)

I am not certain what happens in that case as I've never introduced a female to old Mr. Peterman, wouldn't be surprised if he took an extra bath that day to impress the lady ;D
