There you go, title screen! The concept is, the image is divided at two-thirds, with one half occupied with the main menu's choices, justified to the left, and the rest is the game protagonist Chester. Behind him, in the large, empty blue area, images of levels and bosses will scroll.

After uploading this video I edited the picture further to turn it into a channel background image. The whole picture can be viewed here (there you can zoom on it and stuff too): http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/33211.htm

The title screen is for a simple little project I have going on, a run-n-gun platformer with a bazooka-toting octopus as a protagonist. I originally started the game for a TIGSource contest, but a sudden surge of work for college made me unable to finish anything worthwhile in time.

The music playing in the background is "Diana" by Comus, off the album "First Utterance".

  • How do you know where to start? Do you look at actual surfaces to see where things like the reflection and shine should be? Or is it all from your head?

  • Its sort of the other way around: I keep in mind an imaginary point (or multiple) in space where light shines from and place light down on the surfaces from that vague idea, and I improvise on the results, and if something ends up looking wrong I can always correct it (pixel art especially is easy to correct and edit since you have less colors to worry about, there's very little "cleaning" involved)

  • This is good, do you use a tablet or just a mouse?

  • For pixel art, I use a mouse. I don't see the need of a tablet with it since you don't really need to do careful shapes and lines, just clicks. For my drawing though I use a tablet.

  • Hey Frankie how should i fix the picture that something look better than the small picture i mean i m about to reszie my pic into a bigger size and it seem sloopy and mess. just need help if u know how to make the bigger size look better than the small size.

  • mmh you mean like, the pixels get blurred when you stretch the picture up? There should be a "quality" choice somewhere, or a "smooth" checkbox? It depends on your program. Graphicsgale has a "Smooth" checkbox in the scaling menu. Both of these smooth pixels when the images are stretched. Try turning these features off.
