Wagner College rides out Hurricane Irene in the gym

With Hurricane Irene's impact on New York City imminent, Wagner College decided that, to ensure the safety of the students remaining in its residence halls, it would evacuate those students to the Spiro Sports Center gym. There was plenty of water and food, and a Super Slumber Party atmosphere prevailed among the 375-or-so students camped out in the gym. The college's president and provost, Dr. Richard Guarasci and Dr. Lily McNair, spent the night with the students, along with dozens of Public Safety, Residential Life, Health Services and other staff members.
