The story of the fourth game in the epic Legacy of Kain series (Updated).
All honour to all the creators of the Legacy of Kain game series.

-------------------------------
Chapter 11 - The Living End

Restored audio right off the bat here. In the game Kain does not give a monologue as he arrives on the ship, it is done in complete silence. There is absolutely no sane reason to replace this descriptive, evocative opening speech with silence therefor I choose to believe that it is yet another sound bug. I prefer an explanation of incompetence to erm... a different kind of incompetence. Again I got this audio from VipericVampire.
1:09 I think the Hylden Lord's magic contact lenses need recharging, it's bugs like this that really let the game down. This one is some kind of layering problem I guess, his eye glow disappears when his head glow disappears behind his armoured collar. His eyes must be glowing in the back of his head.
2:30 I always assumed that the glowey bits briefly remaining behind was meant to be a menacing visual effect, now I suspect that it is yet another cock-up.
2:40 This audio is actually heard when you approach these two from the front but it seemed a shame to lose it.
4:28 Another bug. I don't know who says "may the Gods have mercy" but he's not there. It's an interesting cut-scene all the same.
6:39 An interesting bit of conversation combined with both stealth kills for the great sword/axe, unfortunately as you see they are just copies of the earliest weapon stealth kills (axe/mace). Still, the Hylden death rattle is kind of amusing and ooh look, human in a jar.
7:24 Some interesting Hylden murals of their appearance before their exile. 7:27 Could this have something to do with the Eternal Prison, can'tdiecan'tsleepcan'tdiecan'tsleepcan'tdiecan'tsleepcan'tdie... The Hylden figures look a lot more like the Seer than the regular wretches confirming that she is a Hylden and that she somehow escaped the binding.
8:00 Ah the instakill great sword/axe grab maneuver, I love it. It's actually easier to use on the warrior Hylden as they tend to leave a good opening for it.
8:05 A scene of the Hylden/Ancient war no doubt.
8:40 Don't know why he suddenly turned blue but it definitely didn't help him any. As his head comes off it is made quite clear that they only bothered to animate a human decapitation, all flying heads are the same.
9:16 More amusing restored dialogue. This excerpt was meant to be from the Device, they would have gone on to discuss the emergency of someone attempting to destroy the Device -
"All warriors in this section are to go out on patrol"
"but the warriors are never all sent out at once, some must be kept back in case of an unusual event."
"This IS an unusual event"
I had to make sure the sword was destroyed in this fight so that it would not hover in the air after Kain teleports in an upcoming scene but I also wanted to use berserk with it first.
11:37 Why didn't Vorador thank Kain the two times he saw him after he saved Umah? The writers just wanted to mention her at this point and made a mess of it.
11:52 Where the hell are the rest of the reinforcements? Sure they're a pretty ridiculous looking bunch but they could have at least made a really garish distraction.
12:57 Vorador has become a real pansy. He used to be the only being capable of taking on a conflict guardian one on one and now he's incapacitated by one shot from the Soul Reaver and never heard from again, Janos shrugs it off easily enough.

----------------------------------------------

I was skimming through a book of forgotten English a while ago and came across the origin of the word Hylden.
Hylden - A term of contempt; a great, foul, hulky, filthy creature such as a butcher or hangman.
Seems a bit unfair on butchers but there you go.

A lot of people complain about a sudden genre shift into a sci-fi game in the Hylden areas, I don't mind it so much myself (compared to other bugs) as it shows the different natures of the Hylden vs the Ancients by using more of a magitek feel. The mileage varies on most people's opinions in this matter.
